I worked with Aesthetec Studio in 2011 to create this sound-based interactive exhibit for Telus Spark – the New Science Center.

Participants have their shadows projected onto a screen featuring images of speakers. Using their shadows, participants can then “hit” various hotspots and trigger them to create music.

Written in openFrameworks, Shadow Rock utilizes the openCV library for shadow detection and image analysis.

In addition to the interaction aspect, I created a custom graphical user interface for the museum staff to adjust various settings, such as camera shutter speed, and to switch on or off various features, such as background subtraction.
